NATLING PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy explains how Natling ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Natling mobile application and related services (the "Service").
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide
- Profile and onboarding data: name (optional), email (optional), date of birth, sex, height, weight, goals, activity level, preferred units, language, timezone, and calorie target.
- Food tracking and chat content: meal logs, nutrition entries, barcode scans, notes, messages, and content you submit in chat.
- Images and voice inputs: photos you choose or capture for food analysis; voice input/transcripts when you use speech features.
- Subscription events: purchase status and entitlement state (managed through Apple and RevenueCat).
B. Information collected automatically
- Device identifiers and metadata: device token, device ID, device name, platform, app version, timestamps.
- Push token and notification settings: Apple push token, push environment, and reminder preferences.
- Usage and diagnostics: message/image usage counters, model/token usage events, feature usage needed for rate limits, analytics, reliability, and abuse prevention.
C. Sensitive/health-related information
- The Service processes food, nutrition, weight, and goal information that may be considered health-related in some jurisdictions.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide core app functionality (logging meals, chat assistance, progress views, reminders, and summaries).
- Personalize experience (language, timezone, goals, and recommendations).
- Process subscriptions and restore purchases.
- Operate AI features (chat, image analysis, nutrition estimation, and barcode-assisted logging).
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, enforce limits, and debug incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. Legal Bases (where applicable)
Depending on your location, we process data based on:
- Contract: to provide the Service you request.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, product improvement.
- Consent: permissions such as camera, photos, microphone, speech recognition, and notifications.
- Legal obligations: when required by law.
4. Permissions We Request
On iOS, Natling may request:
- Camera: to scan food.
- Photo library: to select food images.
- Microphone and speech recognition: for voice input.
- Notifications: for reminders and daily summaries.
You can revoke permissions in iOS Settings, but some features may stop working.
5. Third-Party Services and Sharing
We share data only as needed to run the Service, including:
- Convex: backend database and API infrastructure.
- OpenRouter (and underlying model providers, such as Google Gemini): AI processing for chat/image features.
- RevenueCat: subscription status verification and entitlement handling.
- Apple services (App Store, StoreKit, APNs): billing and push delivery.
- OpenFoodFacts: barcode product lookup.
We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods may vary by data type and legal requirements.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your data, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.
To make a request, contact us using the contact method in Section 12. We may verify identity before fulfilling requests.
8. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
9. Children
Natling is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age where required by local law). If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
